2023 Interclub Competition

Club Results – We came 1st

Submission of images for the Interclub competition

You may submit up to two images for consideration for each of the 10 Interclub topics – so that’s a maximum of 20 images per member!

Firstly, all images you submit for each topic must have been taken by you.

Secondly, there is no date restriction as to when the images are taken.

Thirdly, the committee’s expectationis that your chosen images can only be submitted to the JCC and no other club, regardless of whether it makes selection or not.

Note that, although the Interclub competition itself is ultimately contested with printed images, for initial selection purposes your entries need to be submitted in a digital format (as JPG files) – not as actual prints – with a maximum size of 1620 px (horizontally) x 1080 px (vertically). This size restriction means that all images compete for selection on an equal footing, regardless of the resolution of each camera’s sensor.

However, if one of your images gets selected for the Interclub competition, you will then be asked to provide the highest-resolution version of that image that you have available, from which JCC can produce the highest-quality print for the competition.

Just a reminder of what the 10 Interclub competition topics are for 2023 in parentheses but use the short form (in bold) when submitting your photos:

  1. Grunge                          (Grunge)
  2. From above                 (From above)
  3. Iconic                             (Iconic places of the Lower North Island)
  4. Fear                                 (Fear)
  5. Still Life                       (Still Life)
  6. Celebration                 (Celebration)
  7. Helmut Newton         (In the style of Helmut Newton)
  8. Triptychs                      (Triptychs)
  9. Chaos                             (Chaos)
  10. Red                                 (Seeing Red)

Our Competition Secretary would like each image you submit to be labelled as follows:

[2023 Interclub]; [your name]; [the number and short-form label for the particular topic]

(# [a sequential image number for each of your entries within that particular topic])

e.g.      “2023 Interclub; Joe Bloggs; 3 Iconic (#1)”

            “2023 Interclub; Joe Bloggs; 3 Iconic (#2)”

You can start sending your submissions now, if you’d like. The cut-off date for sending images will be Sunday 6 August (at 11:59pm).

Note:

Please send your submissions for the 2023 Interclub competition (as email attachments) through to “APPScompetitions@gmail.com” with “2023 Interclub” in the Subject line, or alternatively through the image uploader, please use the following URL:

https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLScHGcXscMBm4BLXJVBMbJjI4l5S2a9VWlT9FR4uK-Xd6Z0_hw/viewform?usp=sf_link

and our Competition Secretary will simply pick them up and collate them from there. You don’t even need to include any text in the email (though you may still do so if you wish), since your image filenames will contain all the info that we need to process your submissions.

The date for the final selection meeting (to decide which images will go on to be JCC’s ten entries in the Interclub competition), will be 2 to 5 pm on Sunday 27th August at the Johnsonville Community Hub. That selection meeting, which is open to all JCC members, will take place during the afternoon.
